[Progic] How to Use the Birthday Media
From registration to display: the complete guide to creating birthday content sections and automating birthday celebrations on your Corporate TV.
Birthday Media allows you to showcase employee birthdays automatically on your Corporate TV. To use this feature, you need to:
- Create a Birthday Section where employee information will be stored.
- Add birthday records manually or through an Excel spreadsheet.
- Link the section to a Birthday Template in Creative.
- Publish the template in a Playlist or Campaign.
Create a Birthday Section
The Birthday Section is where you will store employee information, such as names, birth dates, and photos.
Configure the section type
Go to Content > Sections > + Add Section and select Internal Section.
Under Section Type, choose Manual Entry and click Continue.
Complete the general information
Enter the Section Name, select the Groups that will have access to the section, and click Continue.
Configure text fields
Select the text fields that will be available for content creation and later displayed in the Birthday Template.
Typically, only the Title and Text fields are used. Be sure to review the character limit settings for each field.
Click Continue.
Configure images
Set the image size using the Width and Height fields.
If desired, you can also configure:
- Circular Crop to display photos in a circular format.
- Rectangle Angle (%) to create rounded corners.
Rounded corners cannot be used together with the Circular Crop option.
Click Save.
After saving, you will be redirected to the Internal Section Editing screen, where birthday entries can be added.
Ways to register birthdays
Birthdays can be registered in two different ways:
- Directly in Manager.
- By importing an Excel spreadsheet.
Register Birthdays Directly in Manager
Click Add Post.
In the window that opens:
- Enter the birthday date in the Title field.
- Enter the employee's name in the Text field.
- Upload the employee's photo in Choose Image.
Optionally, you can configure:
- Start Date, which determines when the birthday content begins to appear.
- End Date, which determines when it stops appearing.
- Group, which defines who can view the content.
Click Save to complete the registration.
Repeat this process for each employee.
Register Birthdays Using an Excel Spreadsheet Download the spreadsheet template
Inside the section, click Import and then Spreadsheet Template.
Each row in the spreadsheet represents one birthday entry.
Complete the spreadsheet
ID
The ID field can be left blank, as it will be managed automatically by Manager.
If you are editing existing entries, do not modify this field.
Delete
Use the Delete field to remove existing entries:
- YES: the entry will be deleted during import.
- NO or blank: the entry will remain or be imported normally.
Title
In the Title column, enter the birthday date.
Before filling in this column, change its format to Text to avoid compatibility issues caused by Excel's date formatting.
Examples:
- 04/20/1996
- 04/20/96
- 04/20
Text
In the Text column, enter the employee's name.
Source
The Source field is optional and is not displayed in the Birthday Template.
Image
Insert employee photos into the Image column.
Before adding images, disable Excel's automatic image compression:
File > Options > Advanced > Image Size and Quality > Do not compress images in file
This setting must be enabled every time you create or edit a spreadsheet containing images.
After inserting the photos, you may resize them to fit within the cells without affecting their original quality.
Import the spreadsheet
After completing and saving the file:
- Click Import.
- Select + File.
- Choose the spreadsheet.
- Select the Groups that will have access to the content.
- Click Upload File.
All birthday entries will be added to the section automatically.
